Most comdirect users buy Bitcoin by funding a BaFin licensed exchange using SEPA Überweisung and the correct Verwendungszweck. Here is how to get started.
Yes. comdirect does not sell Bitcoin directly in its banking and brokerage interface, but it is a popular SEPA funding bank for exchanges. Transfers are approved with photoTAN, and many users prefer SEPA Instant where the deposit method supports it. For a German EUR venue, some customers use BSDEX for bank transfer funding.
Use the exact reference and beneficiary format shown on the deposit screen. If the platform provides a structured reference, paste it exactly and avoid adding your own notes. If the IBAN and reference match, the deposit is far more likely to credit without manual work.
comdirect can support real time style transfers, but the receiving account must support SEPA Instant for that deposit method. If the platform does not show Instant as an option, you will be on standard SEPA. When Instant is supported, it can credit much faster than standard rails.
comdirect lets you view and adjust transfer limits inside account settings. If you plan to fund over multiple transfers, check the daily limit first so the second transfer does not fail. Limit changes require the usual strong authentication.
Adding a new recipient can require an extra photoTAN approval step, and the first outgoing transfer can be screened more tightly than later ones. That is standard fraud control, not a crypto-only ban. A small test payment often clears the path for the main transfer.
SEPA transfer is more stable. Card deposits can fail due to issuer checks and merchant coding, while SEPA has explicit IBAN and reference rules and a clearer audit trail. If you want fewer surprises, use SEPA.
